I don’t know about you, but I love fall—the perfect weather and the changing leaves are enough to make my heart happy. But what I also love about fall (and every season) is having an excuse to shop new clothes and accessories—I’m looking at you boots, sweaters, and of course, shoes! Here are 5 shoe trends I’m currently wearing, and will continue to wear into the fall season.
Knee High Boot
Knee-high boots are a style that has been around for centuries, but they’ve seen a resurgence in recent years. And I, for one, am fully on board. Not only are they stylish, but they’re also functional, keeping your legs warm in the cooler months. Plus, there are so many different styles to choose from now – whether you’re looking for something classic or trendy. I love knee-high boots because they elongate your legs, which helps define your shape. When you’re wearing a dress or skirt, high boots make it look as if you have longer legs than you actually do. This style is also wonderful if you’re petite. Pair a knee-high boot with a printed midi skirt or denim shorts for a classic look that will take you from office hours to happy hour in no time at all.
Closed Toe Mule
A closed-toed mule is a shoe that covers your entire foot, but has an open back. They can be dressy or casual, depending on the style and material. I love wearing them with jeans or a dress. The key to making this trend work for you is to find a pair that fits well and is comfortable. I suggest investing in a quality pair that will last you for several seasons.
Platform heels are one of my favorite trends right now. They add a bit of height without being too uncomfortable, and they look great with just about any outfit. I especially love pairing them with jeans or a denim skirt. For the fall, I’ll be swapping out my light-colored shoes for darker hues, like black or brown. And, I’ll be looking for pairs with interesting details, like straps or buckles.
Y2K Inspired Shoes
The first shoe trend I’m loving right now is the return of Y2K inspired shoes. We’re seeing a lot of chunky sneakers, ballet flats, and even some platforms making a comeback. I think this trend is here to stay for a while because it’s so versatile and can be dressed up or down.
I’m a sucker for a good pair of classic sneakers. They go with everything from jeans to dresses and they’re comfortable enough to wear all day long. I currently have a pair of white Converse and black Adidas Stan Smiths that I rotate between on a daily basis. But this fall, I’m planning on adding a pair of vintage-inspired sneakers to my collection.
