Adele has finally released the music video for I Drink Wine, which is her most stylish music video to date, almost a year after the release of her album 30. The “overnight water shoot,” which was directed by Joe Talbot, shows the platinum recording artist floating down a river in an inner tube while holding a glass of rosé. She is wearing a sequined Valentino gown that weighs a whopping 70 pounds.

On Instagram, stylist Jamie Mizrahi described the look as follows: “[Joe] and I discussed the treatment he created, and we went back and forth on ideas for the I Drink Wine dress. Adele would be floating throughout the entire video, so it was crucial that the colour contrasted beautifully with the water.

Enter Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino, who worked with Mizrahi to select the most attractive shade and silhouette for the inner tube shots. The [Maison Valentino] team delivered us a sparkling, beautifully crafted creation in the ideal shade of green in just 10 days. The perfect I Drink Wine outfit. Adding even more glimmer? Diamond-studded earrings by Lorraine Schwartz in the form of blossoms.

Despite the dress’ perfection, there were logistical challenges during filming because it needed to be “blow-dried in between every single take,” according to Mizrahi. “What I’ll always remember about this process is the love, humour, and patience that permeated it all.

Adele, for her part, shared a number of behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot, including one of her laughing while floating down a river and another of her re-filling a glass. She admitted to being capable of handling her wine during her cover interview with Vogue for the November 2021 issue: “I could drink five bottles of wine and have a normal conversation.
