A little less than a year after Prince George was left disappointed by the England national men’s soccer team losing the Euro Cup to Italy in a nail-bitter of a match, the royals just got another reason to celebrate: the England national women’s soccer team won the final match at Wembley Stadium, and plenty of Windsor residents congratulated the Lionesses
After the win, the congratulations came quickly. William, the president of England’s Football Association, presented the trophy to Leah Williamson in the stadium, and in a tweet signed “W,” William called the win “sensational.” Queen Elizabeth tweeted a message to the Royal Family. You have earned this title far beyond the trophy, “You have all set an example that will inspire girls and women today and in the future.”

Later, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, shared a few photos from the Euro Cup match. This was more than a successful moment for you and for the team, the congratulatory note read. Your hard work, courage, and sportsmanship will live on forever in our hearts.
It’s just the beginning of a sports summer that’s going to be quite regal. Over the weekend, Prince Charles, Prince Edward, and Sophie were in Birmingham for the opening ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games, and will last for seven days; athletes from 71 different Commonwealth countries will participate.
Edward and Sophie were seen spectating a few events at the stadium, which included Prince Anne and her husband. Sophie Windsor watched badminton with her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, on Monday and the pair were photographed with their hands on their heads during the shocking match.
