Christina Aguilera’s latex gown was as stunning as her performance at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday, September 29. She walked the red carpet in a bespoke red lace Buerlangma gown with a high side split and leggings poking out below, but she approached the stage in this plunging gown that screamed black-tie dominatrix. Her stylist, Chris Horan, was responsible for both of her looks at the event.

Venus Prototype and Violet Star, a Latina-owned firm formed by a mother-daughter pair specialising in formfitting rubber and latex items, provided the eye-catching performance number. The gown was dramatic from head to toe, with a mermaid design that hugged Aguilera’s contours and fanned out below her knees. Her form was also framed by tastefully accentuated shoulder pads. The corseted bodice and collar lent a new touch to an otherwise traditional-looking gown.

The 41-year-old Spirit of Hope Award recipient complemented her edgy outfit with diamond jewellery by Gismondi 1754. She accessorised with a short necklace and earrings with spike embellishments. Aguilera slicked her hair back into a ponytail that broke into two braids that dropped to her shoulders on both sides.

This isn’t Aguilera’s first time wearing a latex gown. Her attire at last year’s 2021 Latin Grammys was extremely similar, crafted from the same material and featuring dramatic shoulders and a built-in corset.
