The CMT Artists of the Year Awards were hosted on October 12 in Nashville, the country music capital. And, with some of country music’s biggest names in attendance, there were some bold outfits that stuck out from the crowd. As an example, consider Ciara. The 36-year-old singer stunned in a lace-inlaid, bustier-style gown as she walked down the red carpet in her newest seductive appearance.

Ciara wore a gown from David Koma’s Resort 2023 collection. It included an all-black colour palette, a boned, corseted top with tank straps, and an off-the-shoulder layer to create a cold-shoulder appearance. Her arms were clad in matching opera-length gloves. The body, while boned in the front and chest, was ripped out at the waist and hips to tap into this year’s skin-baring trend. The bottom was opaque black with an up-to-there split on her left leg.

Ciara’s costume is not the first time she has been influenced by the late ’90s or early ’00s. She was sighted in New York City in September wearing a sleeveless zip-front leather jumpsuit of her own design, Celine platform shoes, and stacks of gold bangles on each hand. Only a few weeks ago, she was spotted in Los Angeles wearing another black leather ensemble, this time an off-the-shoulder black coat dress, matching gloves, and dark shades. Though she has recently embraced a darker colour palette, this summer she also tried her hand at the neon bikini trend that has recently revived and, of course, nailed it.
