Yesterday, Deepika Padukone announced her second Hollywood project after her successful international debut in the action film XXX. Return of Xander Cage (2017). The untitled movie is being developed by STXfilms, a subsidiary of Eros STX Global Corporation, and Temple Hill, a company that has produced titles like The Fault in Our Stars, the Twilight franchise, interestingly, Padukone herself will also be producing the film under her banner, Ka Productions, the company that produced Chhapaak last year.
Deepika is one of the most successful Indian stars in the world. “She’s a talented actress with a charismatic personality and her profile is growing as an international star,” said Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group in his comments. The movie will be shot at virgin locations in parts of New York and India. While the rest of cast, director, and shooting timelines will be revealed in the months to follow, the studio has estimated the budget of the project to be in the range of $75 million (Rs 550 crore), according to a source close to the development.
According to Padukone, she is excited to be a part of the project: Ka Productions was created with the intention of creating and producing meaningful content that would have global appeal. As a partner with STXfilms and Temple Hill Productions, I look forward to telling impactful and dynamic cross-cultural stories with their organization.
