There are people who adore jeans with all of their hearts, and those who wear them for the sake of convenience. Consider myself to be one of the latter. Yes, they’re ageless and one of the few wardrobe basics that never go out of style, but jeans don’t exactly excite me. Couple it with the pain of denim shopping in person (especially if you have a pear shape), and there are solid reasons why it’s one of my least favourite things to wear.
But when it comes to fashion, my opinions can shift like the wind, therefore I’m always willing to change my mind. I’ve done it with low-rise pants (which are now one of my favourite styles), and it appears that denim is being reconsidered. The surge of unique jeans that are both intriguing and edgy has helped flip the tide. They twist the blue-washed straight-leg classic with surprising details (including a built-in kilt and color-blocked patchwork, as seen here). The entire concept elevates ordinary jeans from a background component to a focal point. And everyone from Loewe to H&M is joining in.
