Get the Fresh, No-Makeup Look This Season

Too many women think they have to wear makeup every day in order to look presentable, but that’s not the case! You can still have that fresh, no-makeup look if you know what to use and how to use it. To get your own no-makeup look, start with these tips and tricks.

    Foundation

For a natural finish to your everyday look that doesn’t need too much fuss and is still glow, I recommend Clinique’s Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. It has a matte coverage with SPF 30 that protects your skin from sun damage. Plus, it won’t make you break out! Just remember to apply moisturizer before foundation because dry skin can start cracking over time. Then follow up with blush for a natural flush on your cheeks. For lips, keep them simple by using lip balm or gloss as opposed to lipstick; this will also help preserve your lips throughout the day!

    Concealer

If you don’t want to cover your entire face with makeup then concealer is the best way to go. You can get a natural looking makeup that covers blemishes and doesn’t feel heavy on your skin. Apply it under your eyes to hide dark circles and redness too. After applying it, set it by applying loose powder over the area. Lipstick: Stick to one shade of lipstick in order to avoid having too many colors all over your face which will look messy and not chic at all. Apply it by lining just outside of your lip line, apply more on top of the lip line for definition and lastly fill in any gaps with a darker color for a gorgeous pouty look.

    Powder

For a no makeup look, first use powder to absorb oil and smooth away shine. Then if you want a dewy finish, blot excess oil with a tissue and apply mascara and lipstick. Finish with lip balm. If you need to hydrate or moisturize your skin before applying makeup or if it is cold outside and your skin feels dry, dab a little foundation or tinted moisturizer over the spots that need it most (typically around the nose and mouth) then gently blend outwards. Next, apply a liquid highlighter (we love Becca Cosmetics!) in the middle of your forehead and cheekbones for an instant lit-from-within glow. Using blush on both cheeks will give off an awake and healthy glow. Finally, spray fragrance on pulse points for staying power throughout the day.

    Blush

    1. Use a foundation that has just a hint of coverage for an even base.
    2. Apply light foundation or concealer on your under eye area with fingers or a brush and make sure it is blended well.
    3. Sweep a very light bronzer over the bridge of your nose, forehead, cheekbones and chin to give your skin warmth and dimension.
    4. Then apply a thin layer of translucent powder all over to set everything in place.

    Eyeshadow

Start by lining your eyes with a nude or natural brown liner and filling in with black. Apply mascara to your top and bottom lashes, dab an eyeshadow color of your choice on to the lid of your eye. Next, brush a light pink eye shadow over the lids. Finally blend everything together so that there are no hard lines or visible edges between colors.
Place highlighter on cheekbones and nose as well as brow bone for an extra glow.

    Mascara

It’s a common misconception that if you want to look polished and put together you need to wear a full face of makeup. While this might be true if you’re attending an event where your appearance is closely monitored and judged, in day-to-day life most people are more interested in how your personality shines through. That being said, it is still important to groom yourself for events like work and dating. Just because your makeup bag might only include mascara does not mean that you should skip out on eyebrows.

    Lip Gloss

Consider buying a stick of lip gloss that you can apply on your lips before school or work. A good non-sticky option is one with tinted sheer colors like pink or apricot. Stick to more natural colors to avoid looking like a clown and be careful not to over apply as this could make your lips appear too shiny.
To give yourself a bit of color, take a light pink blusher and brush it lightly across your cheeks. Add mascara to your lashes for a glamorous look!
