Kylie Jenner is prepared to play the villain. On October 31, the entrepreneur shared a TikTok video in which she flaunted her contemporary “Bride of Frankenstein” Halloween costume and lip-synced to a dub of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” but her chunky highlights stole the show.
Straight down her back, Jenner’s hair ended in a loose wave that just barely touched her hips. While the majority of her hair was jet-black, a few strands in the front of her head had been dyed a vivid platinum-blond, creating the foundation for a chunky-highlights hairstyle that looked like it belonged to the 1990s.

Along with a number of other ’90s beauty trends, chunky highlights have been making a comeback. Today’s iterations of the style are more subdued, with a soft colour at the roots that gradually darkens at the ends, resembling a balayage. But if you want to stick to the original version of the style, choose highlights that are a sharply different shade from the rest of your hair, like Kendall Jenner did. This hair colour is ideal for both special occasions (like Halloween) and everyday wear, much like the stunning corset dress she was wearing. (It’s almost like you have a built-in costume for when you want to channel your inner main character.)
