Makeup isn’t just for women; men can wear makeup too! If you’re interested in learning about makeup, you’ve come to the right place, because we’ve put together a complete makeup tutorial just for men! You don’t have to limit yourself to foundation and lipstick if you want to wear makeup; there are other options out there that are much more interesting and fun. From contouring your face to highlighting your cheeks and eyes, you can give yourself an entirely new look that makes you feel great when you look in the mirror.
Choose the right products
Products for men might not be as readily available as products for women. Some people feel that it’s better to use products designed for women since there is more variety and they’ll work better on your skin. However, there are plenty of options out there with tinted moisturizers, mineral powder foundation, loose setting powder and bb cream available to choose from. If you have dark circles, use a concealer and then go over the area with your foundation.
Know your skin type
To understand what type of skin you have, you need to know if it’s oily, dry, or combination.
Here are some ways to determine your skin type:
1) Get an analysis done by a professional at a spa.
2) Observe how your skin feels after washing and before applying moisturizer.
3) What color do your veins appear on the inside of your wrist? If they look blue, then it’s more likely that you have dry skin.
A little goes a long way
If you’re anything like me, you probably believe that it takes a lot of time and effort to do your makeup well. But don’t give up yet – this advice for men might come in handy. When I put on my makeup, I typically focus on foundation, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lipstick and contouring. One of the first rules is to use less makeup than what you think would be necessary. The goal is not to look like a clown – we want natural beauty here!
Blend, blend, blend
There are so many makeup products available these days, it can be a little daunting when trying to decide what’s best for you. However, there are some basics that will get your glow on and make you look your best! Foundation is an important step in the process of getting that good skin and cover imperfections. Keep it natural with a sheer or medium coverage foundation and don’t forget to blend thoroughly with a beauty blender or brush! This will also keep your makeup lasting longer throughout the day!
Don’t overdo it
If you’ve ever seen the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie has to do Mr. Big’s makeup for a dinner date, you know that most men would rather keep their faces clear of any cosmetics. However, there are occasions when a man may want to enhance his look with some makeup – for example, going to a special event like an engagement party or New Year’s Eve dinner.
Use brushes
Brushes are your best friend. They’ll give you a great finished look. A brush is also nice to keep your hands clean and dry when putting on makeup. Just make sure that before you use any brush you wash it thoroughly to avoid transferring bacteria onto your face. Do this with a mild soap and warm water, then follow with an alcohol-free sanitizer.
Less is more
Men’s makeup can take on a variety of forms. For starters, you need to choose the right color and style for your skin tone and hair color. Less is more when it comes to men’s makeup so unless you’re going for a dramatic look, consider sticking with basics like foundation, powder, concealer, eyebrow pencils and mascara. Most men who wear makeup tend to start by filling in their eyebrows with a brow pencil.
