When most people hear the name Vera Wang, they think of elegant dresses and black gowns with embellished beading along the edges. What most people don’t know about this fashion icon, though, is that she was only 30 years old when she designed her first wedding dress in 1981. She’s since gone on to design over 2,000 bridal gowns, numerous fashion lines and even a few fragrances. Today, at 73 years old, Vera looks decades younger than her real age and has some tips on how you can look your best as you age too!
Get enough sleep
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle requires a good night’s sleep. Sleeping eight hours a day helps your body recover from the stresses of the day, and is just as important for your skin as it is for the inside of your body.
This will help you look more youthful and vibrant, even if you’re getting older.
Wear sunscreen
Wearing sunscreen is an important step to preventing premature aging. Apply daily and reapply every two hours if you are in the sun for extended periods of time. The elasticity in your skin will come back, making you appear years younger!
Use an anti-aging serum
Our skin thins and becomes less elastic as we age. Loss of collagen and elastin leads to wrinkles, dullness, and a loss of firmness. Anti-aging serums are designed to target the signs of aging by filling in wrinkles and plumping up your skin with moisture. Don’t smoke
I don’t smoke and I’m not a drinker, so that’s one of the secrets, Wang tells PeopleStyle. I don’t know what else to say because I can’t do anything about my age.
Eat healthy
Vera Wang is a famous American fashion designer and she looks youthful at the age of 73. She credits her youthful appearance to eating well. I try to be as healthy as I can, Wang says. I work out, I try to eat clean, and I drink a lot of water.
Drink plenty of water
Staying hydrated is essential to looking and feeling your best, but it’s important to drink the right amount of water. In general, you should be drinking six-eight glasses of water a day, but this might change depending on where you live, how active you are and your age. For example, someone who exercises vigorously may need more than eight glasses a day.
Exercise
Vera’s advice for looking young is to stay active. Exercise is key, she says. It’s the fountain of youth. She also recommends a healthy diet and taking care of your skin by using sunscreen and moisturizer.
