If you ask any beauty blogger about their favourite mascara, you’re going to get a variety of responses. The reality is revealed in the follow-up question, “Why?” ” when their number one lash priority is disclosed. “The same pink and green tube I’ve used since high school” signifies nostalgia (shoutout to Maybelline Great Lash); “whatever’s supplied to me” means lashes aren’t their priority; and “Dior because it never smudges” means they’re all about staying power.
If you had asked me this question a week ago, I would have been somewhere between apathetic and open. After testing MAC’s newest Stack Mascara, I can speak more confidently about what constitutes a great mascara in my opinion. Check. A narrow wand that reduces clumping. Check. Pure black, because brown mascara is a waste of effort for me — check. Check, check, check. Length that keeps a curl without smearing beneath my eyes after sprinting around in the cold — check, check, check. It’s only natural for MAC, the pioneer of so many wonderful makeup products, to create a universally adored mascara.
Meet MAC Stack

MAC’s most recent mascara was created to be buildable. MAC remains committed to the art of a dramatic look in an age of natural finishes and scarcely there makeup. Its products have long been praised as favourites of cosmetic artists and at-home enthusiasts seeking a simple beauty product that dependably delivers – no additional bells and whistles. The same MAC eyeliner can provide a mod, ’60s-style eye design for one person and a plain cat eye for another. The same goes for MAC Stack Mascara.
With this new formula, you can use three to four swipes for dramatic lashes or one to two coats for a daily look. Unlike comparable mascaras, MAC Stack makes the unrealistic claim of “unlimited layers of volume + length.” The Superstack Mega Brush, on the other hand, gives a product that lengthens while making a somewhat thicker-looking lash, rather than clumping at the ends or creating a few mega-eyelashes.

The focus here is on length, which is one of the many ways mascara can enhance your lashes. Given the extension-like effect, I’d recommend curling your lashes first for optimal lifted results that persist all day.
MAC’s best-selling mascara, Magic Extension 5mm Fibre Mascara, on the other hand, is all about big, voluminous lashes. Fibers adhere to natural lashes to create a fuller, more dramatic look than using this new recipe. Consider MAC Stack to be a more simple alternative with more leeway for customisation depending on how many coats you choose.
