Polarizing trends are trendy things that are so divisive, they’re taking the internet by storm and making people either love them or hate them with intense passion. In other words, they’re polarizing trends—and I usually steer clear of them, but I have to admit that I like these five. Let’s take a look!
In Defense of Shorts
This isn’t the first time I’ve been vocal about my dislike of this trend. It’s hard enough finding a pair that looks flattering on a full-figured girl like me. The last thing I want is a pair that has an elastic waistband that is too tight and ends up giving me muffin top. And then there are all those times when the shorts ride up, exposing my underwear (or worse) to whoever happens to be around me at the time.

In Defense of Sweats
The most recent trend in the fashion industry is athleisure – the combination of activewear and loungewear. While this style has been around for a few years now, it’s never really caught on with me. However, after seeing these five celebrities rock some great athleisure looks that are actually wearable outside of the gym (i.e. not oversized), I have to admit that this trend might be worth embracing after all.

In Defense of Espadrilles
When I was in high school and college, my dad would always tell me the story of how he bought his first pair of espadrilles. A friend had told him about them and he had gone to a store with no intention of buying anything but found that these shoes were so comfortable and versatile that he couldn’t help himself.

In Defense of Overalls
It seems like every year there are more and more new trends coming out. Some of them are great and some of them just leave me wondering why they were even a thing in the first place. This year the trend that has really been bugging me is overalls.

In Defense of Beanies
Beanie hats are a polarizing trend that some people love and others can’t stand. If you’re not a fan of the trend, don’t worry. There are plenty of other trends to get excited about. However, if you do love the trend and want to stay ahead of the curve, these five beanies are worth your attention.
