On Nov. 9, Katy Perry elevated the denim-on-denim trend at the 56th Annual Country Music Association Awards. Tatiana Waterford fashioned three separate all-denim ensembles for the pop diva during the course of the evening.
Perry wore a light-wash pantsuit from the spring 2023 ready-to-wear line by Marques Almeida on the red carpet. The upper part of the outfit has off-the-shoulder sleeves and a plunging corset bodice with boning.

She wore identical low-rise trousers on the bottom, which were concealed by a huge bow design that fell over her waist and gave the appearance of a skirt. A diamond choker and Diamond of Elizabeth pointed-toe PVC shoes studded with imitation diamonds and Mach & Mach pearls from Perry and Waterford completed the outfit’s accessories. When Perry’s performance was about to begin, she swapped out her regal ensemble of jeans and jewels for something more approachable.
The “Where We Started” collaborator wore a strapless Marrknull denim dress for her duet with Thomas Rhett while accessorising with a cowboy hat and knee-high black boots. The dress had a huge leg slit that extended from the top of the slit to the bottom of the hem, and it was embellished with frayed edges.

The most subtle outfit of the night, Perry’s strapless, skintight Y2K denim maxi dress nonetheless had enough of drama. The top of the garment had belt loops and buttons along the middle, much like the waist of any old pair of jeans.
