Kim Kardashian made an appearance at the premiere of The Promise held at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles on Monday night, and it seems like she’s struggling to hold her chain-mail dress together as she climbed the stairs to the event. In pictures, the 37-year-old reality TV star looked like she needed help from someone to climb up onto the stairs and clung onto each step as if her life depended on it. In footage shared by multiple media outlets including Daily Mail and Us Weekly, Kim appeared to be struggling to walk as well in her chain-mail dress and pair of black stilettos.
Kim Kardashian would consistently take first place if “gracefully waddling up stairs in a skintight dress” were an Olympic sport. During Milan Fashion Week, the founder of Skims demonstrated her mastery of the skill by ascending multiple flights of stairs while wearing a form-fitting chainmail outfit.
Kardashian is seen stumbling while walking in a tapered silver dress that ties at the ankles and lace-ups both sides in a behind-the-scenes footage that was initially published by her former assistant Steph Shepherd. She reaches the first step, clutches the handrail for stability, and then bunny-hops up a few while holding onto her matching purse. In the following scene, she is being assisted upward by two individuals, and the camera zooms in on the bottom of her dress to highlight how constricted the fabric is around her feet.
Kardashian struggles up the apparently never-ending stairs after asking, “Is there an elevator?” in vain, until she eventually reaches a car, where she slumps onto a seat with her legs outstretched. We have to give it to her: she is incredibly dedicated.
The amusing incident is just one more illustration of how far Kardashian will go to make a fashion statement. At the 2019 Met Gala, the aspiring lawyer famously refused to sit down or use the restroom while wearing a corseted, crystal-encrusted Thierry Mugler gown. Two years prior, she squeezed into a head-to-toe latex Balmain outfit for an outing with sister Kourtney Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week, which was hilariously captured on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Oh, and let’s not forget the time she attended a dinner party for Balenciaga while covered entirely in plastic. She is nothing if not devoted, and for that we must give her credit.
