    Telling tales by way of music is nothing new. Apparent examples are operas similar to Puccini’s La Bohème, newly recorded by the Irish Nationwide Opera; or the brand new opera Blue by Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson, and carried out by Roderick Cox (pictured above); or Handel’s oratorio La Resurrezione, in a wonderful efficiency by the English Live performance. Much less apparent are instrumental works, similar to Samuel Adams’ Lyra, which tells the Orpheus fable, and Elena Ruehr’s Icarus, additionally based mostly on an historic fable.
