Most of us have had the unpleasant experience of seeing ourselves with thinning hair. Stress, lack of proper nutrition, exposure to harmful chemicals, genetic factors, and certain medication can all be responsible for hair thinning in varying degrees. Fortunately, there are several home remedies which can actually stimulate hair growth and give you back your crowning glory! From vitamin A to fenugreek seeds, here’s what you can do to keep your hair healthy and strong.
Nettles

One of the most well-known herbal hair loss remedies is nettles. Studies have shown that topical use of nettles leads to increased follicle count and stimulation of hair growth, helping you to stop your hair from thinning and start on your way to long, luxurious locks. A study showed that 87% of patients who used a shampoo containing 5% extract saw significant improvement in their hair within 8 weeks.
Mix one teaspoon dried or fresh leaves with two cups boiling water and steep for 10 minutes before straining it. After washing your hair with a gentle shampoo, pour this tea over your head and leave it in for five minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly with warm water.
Aloe Vera

People have used aloe vera gel for more than just burns and wounds. Aloe vera can be used to make a smoothie, sunburn lotion, hair serum, diaper rash cream, etc. Aloe vera juice is one of the key ingredients in most commercially available shampoos as it’s beneficial for hair growth because it contains amino acids that strengthen the hair follicles.
Garlic

Nature offers us many remedies to help us live healthier and happier lives. Garlic is one of these remedies, being a natural way to thicken your hair by eliminating toxins in the body. By eating more garlic you will get increased circulation, revitalized hair follicles, and strengthened skin-cell production; this translates into thicker, fuller hair in as little as two weeks!
Rosemary

Dried rosemary is often used in dishes like roast lamb and pasta sauce. Nowadays, people all over the world are realizing that this plant can do more than just flavor food. As a matter of fact, this natural herb has been the mainstay of many women’s hair-loss solutions for centuries.
Brahmi

If your hair is thinning, this might not be for you. These days we have to deal with pollution and stress on a daily basis. This causes hair to get weak and fall out. Get back your beautiful locks by incorporating these natural herbs into your daily diet. Basil leaves are packed with vitamins A, B-complex, C and E that nourish the scalp. You can put them in soups or salads or make an herbal tea from them. You can also massage basil oil into your scalp before bedtime to stimulate growth of new hair follicles. Aloe vera is rich in essential fatty acids which help produce healthy hair cells.
Olive oil

Heat a cup of extra virgin olive oil until warm but not hot (should feel comfortable against your fingers).
Pour in enough to coat your hair generously, then pour the remainder over your head. Let it sit for up to 30 minutes. After that time, shampoo and condition as usual. Then try again every week or two weeks until you notice your hair is thicker and fuller! If this doesn’t work on its own or you’re looking for an even more potent solution, you can use one tablespoon of castor oil mixed with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before shampooing.
Add a couple drops of peppermint essential oil to each shampoo if you want an added scalp massage while you cleanse!
Bitter Gourd

One of the most powerful, yet least used herbs in Chinese medicine is bitter gourd. This underrated herb can offer you a variety of benefits, including stronger nails and hair. Traditionally, Chinese herbalists would prescribe this herb to women who were experiencing hair thinning to give their locks a natural boost. Today, many herbalists are starting to use it as part of their hair regimen because they have found success with it! You can purchase bitter gourd either in tea form or as an extract.
Fenugreek seeds

Research has shown that fenugreek seeds are beneficial in controlling hair loss as they contain high levels of Iron, protein, and other minerals. The phytosterols found in the seeds make it a perfect conditioner for both scalp and hair growth by acting as a rich moisturizer that nourishes your hair follicles. Fenugreek can also reduce inflammation on the scalp which will help clear up dandruff, skin irritation and itching.
