At the “My Mind & Me” premiere in Hollywood, all eyes were on Selena Gomez. On Nov. 2, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer strode down the red carpet in a purple silk gown by Rodarte to mark the debut of her new feature-length film.
The asymmetrical dress was draped over Gomez’s right shoulder with a long bow pattern that wrapped over the diagonal neckline — showing her enormous neck tattoo — and went down below the hem. The silk fabric caressed her waist and fell gently above her ankles in a delicate flair. She accessorised the ensemble with a rectangle purse studded with crystals, Paris Texas embroidered PVC Mules, and bright David Webb streamer earrings. Gomez’s costume appeared to shift colour under the stage lights during an interview promoting her new film, deceiving the eye into seeing hues of pink rather than purple, similar to the iconic “dress” image that went popular in 2015.

The bulk of the film premiere goers wore neutral colour palettes, preferring warm tones like beige, tan, and black. In contrast, Gomez’s glittering violet suit was a stunning pick for the honoree. The actress even wore an orange manicure to add a splash of colour to the jewels dripping from her ears.

Kate Young dressed Gomez, who has been responsible for memorable red carpet moments such as Sophie Turner’s Louis Vuitton ensemble at the Academy Museum Gala, Margot Robbie’s cutout cape dress at the “Amsterdam” premiere, and Gomez’s glittering wedding gown at the Emmys.

Prior to the premiere, the singer released her heartfelt new ballad, “My Mind & Me,” which was inspired by her mental health experience. “My mind and I don’t always get along / And it’s hard to breathe,” she sings on the single. While Gomez previously acknowledged she was “sort of frightened” about sharing her extremely personal mental health documentary with the public, she was the image of confidence and glamour on the red carpet on Wednesday.
