Taylor Swift doesn’t need smoke and mirrors to make a statement, but she’ll wear them nonetheless. When the iconic singer-songwriter came at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in a full-length gown totally bedecked in glittering circular mirrors, all eyes were on her. Swift looked stunning on the red carpet in the naked halter dress, which featured delicate gold-coin accents that trailed across her neck and shoulders. She kept her accessories modest, matching her earrings to the gown’s gold hardware and opting for a coppery smokey eye to emphasise the dazzling beauty of the look.

Wearing a garment made almost entirely of microscopic mirrors is a pretty clear indicator that you’re not afraid to be seen, and with the recent release of her new album, “Midnights,” Swift appears to be reentering the public eye (not that she ever really left). She screened on 35 mm her short film “All Too Well,” starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, which she wrote, directed, and produced, at TIFF. However, given the success of the 15-minute short, which recently won the MTV Video Music Award for video of the year, she stated that she might see herself directing a feature-length film in the future.

I will always want to tell human stories about human emotion, Swift said during a panel discussion at the festival. “I will always want to tell human stories about human emotion.” And if her jaw-dropping fashion is any indication, from her starry romper at the VMAs afterparty to her crystal naked dress, she may be on the verge of her golden era.
